Matrimony is another term for marriage, but it is not simply a synonym. As Fr. John Hardon notes in his Modern Catholic Dictionary, matrimony “refers more to the relationship between husband and wife than to the ceremony or the state of marriage.” That is why, strictly speaking, the Sacrament of Marriage is the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Marriage is also the beginning, the beginning of the family and is a life-long commitment. Marriage is more than a physical union; it is also a spiritual and emotional union. This union mirrors the one between God and His Church.
When two people get married, the “two become one,” it is a bond like no other. It gives you a life partner, a teammate, as you move through the challenges of life together.

Requests for marriage services must be made at least six months to a year prior to the requested date.
